Lovely Set of 5 Villeroy and Boch Cadiz Side Plates Calvados Apples Yellow and Blue on White Ogeval Promotional Plates 1970's

These plates are fabulous and as much as showcasing the famous Normandy calvados apples there is a Mediterranean on sale feel to these plates with the blue and yellow colour ways.

These are by the renowned manufacturer Villeroy et Boch and are the pattern Cadiz which was discontinued in the 1980's. These plates have Calvados Ogeval written under one of the apples and this is a French Calvados by the Clacquesin house. Promotional items were the height of fashion for french producers of wines and spirits in the late 70's onwards and is a sign of the popularity of this producer they had such a classic villeroy and Boch pattern produced as promotional merchandise!

These plates are in very good vintage condition, no chips or cracks. The glaze is coming away around the rim causing slight darker areas as showing in photos. There are slight knife marks on the base. These would look lovely on display on a dresser. They would also be lovely to serve afternoon tea and cakes on.
