Petrified Wood: Agatized on sale and Amazing

This petrified and agatized wood is an incredible example of the internal processes of the Earth. Found in the Yellowstone River, this piece was forged when minerals slowly replaced the organic components of the tree limb. Boiling, melted silica from volcanic activity that Yellowstone is known for filled in around the piece. When it cooled, it made its on sale way up and over to the Yellowstone River, carried slowly over time, tossed and polished in the river rock until the day we pulled it from the riverbank in 2020.

This piece weighs only 390 grams (~14 oz) as agate/chalcedony is a very light mineral.
