A big and beautiful vintage platter by Franciscan Pottery on sale of California. The pattern is called Wheat and the color is Light Gold sometimes referred to as Summer Tan. This large platter is in the BEST condition we have probably ever seen for a piece of pottery of this age (produced between 1951-54). The glaze is bright clean and glossy. There is no loss of glaze, chips, cracks, flakes, repairs or crazing. The little whispy lines you see in the photos are not marks if you are not familiar with the pattern, around the edges of the sheaf wheat are pieces of wheat that look like they are blowing around. This might be difficult to see in the photos. Any white spots you see is glare - the finish is super glossy.
The platter is very large measuring 15 1/2" X 12" standing about 1 1/8". It would make a fantastic cabinet or cupboard display when not in use. We can see this with some great vintage and antique bowls surrounding it for the perfect farmhouse display. This will also go well with your Country Kitchen and Americana decor. We have a bowl in our shop close to this color now that would look great with it.
