Vintage clear label under glass apothecary bottle from the late 1800's. Originally contained Powdered Ulmi (bark of the Slippery Elm), Prescribed as a demulcent expectorant, among other uses. This is a HUGE salt-mouth style bottle, with an Enneagon-style ground glass stopper (which is loose, but cracked, as shown in the pictures). This is an older machine-made bottle manufactured by Fay & Schueler Label Company (St. Louis) in the late 1800's (the visible part of the F&S mark includes the patent date of March 6th, 1884). The bottle is a modified square (4 1/4") and stands 12" tall. There is a black/white/gold label in the recess, but there is damage to the top half of the label and the cover glass is cracked. on sale Overall, the bottle is in fair to good condition.
