This vintage Swedish ceramic landscape was executed by artist Frances Barnes. The scene features two birch trees in the foreground along with two whitewashed timbered buildings located on a low hill off to the right. There is a small body of water in the background with a church on the shore. The image includes a full moon shining down from high overhead. The artist has built up portions of the image so that they stand slightly above the surface of the painting, adding an element of dimensionality. The landscape is housed in a simple wooden frame.
The artwork is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As a hand finished piece, it on sale should be noted that there are anomalies in the decoration including glaze pops incurred during production that are mentioned for accuracy. The framed dimensions of the artwork are 9.375" by 7.25" while the ceramic plaque itself measures approximately 7" by 4.625". The artwork bears the incised name of the artist at the lower left edge behind the frame and is also signed/dated "F. M. Barnes Sweden 1980" on the back of the plaque.
This original ceramic artwork displays beautifully and is nicely sized for a small space. It is ready to hang on receipt or can be placed in an easel on a desk or shelf. A lovely and appealing piece!
