Up for sale is a beautiful antique 19th century painting on board. The piece is unsigned and undated on sale (it's possible it is signed on verso, but I have not removed from the frame). It shows a rural river scene with a house on the left side of the painting. The piece was really well-executed showing really mature use of color and technique (particularly evident in the trees). It's a fine example of late 19th-century tonalism. Painting comes frame in an ornate period wood frame. The painting is in poor to fair condition. It has a number of scrapes, scuffing, paint loss and fading throughout. In my opinion, this would be a great candidate for a light restoration. Frame is in good antique condition, though could probably use a light cleaning. Please see photos for condition. Painting measures approximately 17.75 inches wide x 12 inches high. Frame measures approximately 21.5 inches wide x 15.5 inches high.
