Fordite on sale (inlay cabachon) + sterling 2" drop earrings

Fordite, also known as Detroit agate, is old automobile paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It was formed from the build-up of layers of on sale enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were (factory) spray painted in downdraft systems (now retired from use in favor of more efficient coating methods). Cutaways/edges often show dozens of layers of paint.

Our Fordite items were made by a bench jeweler and lapidary artist on our Detroit-based production team from vintage Fordite chunks.

This pair is made from round cabachon-cut Fordite and sterling silver with a 2" drop style.
