THIS RING
Featuring natural polished Skye Marble, set in a sterling silver wrap style band, with a small sparkling Garnet incorporated into the flourish of the design. Skye Marble measures roughly 12x10mm; Garnet measures 3mm diameter.

The clever design of the band means that this ring size can fit ring sizes R-T (UK) or 9-10 (US) but can be adjusted slightly either way, without compromising the design concept. Will arrive in a quality Two Skies presentation box, with a colourful story card.

We have several of these rings in stock, cut from the same piece of Skye, therefore you may not receive the exact ring in the photographs, but one which shows very subtle variations on the mottled pattern of the stone - photos show examples. All rings are the same size, shape and quality.

As setting adjustable rings can sometimes be a delicate procedure, we are happy to set the size for you before we sent it out to you - just let us know in the 'free gift card message' field. See our website for even more Skye jewellery - www.twoskies.scot/skye

SKYE MARBLE
An island of rugged beauty - known as 'the isle of mists' - on Scotland's west coast, Skye is blessed with its own unique marble which formed millions of years ago in the shadows of the Cuillin Mountain range. Part of the only seam of true marble in Britain, the unique colour and pattern of every piece reflects the lush Hebridean landscape. With only 1 in 1,000 kg collected by Adam being of gem quality, any piece of Skye jewellery is truly a treasure, but to find gem quality pink Skye marble is even rarer!

GARNET
From the east African country of Mozambique, this garnet has a warm, deep red that is similar to that of a ruby, and is often mistaken for one to the untrained eye! A good cut accentuates the gem's beauty, as seen in this faceted example. Used in adornment for over 5,000 years, Garnets were popular in ancient Egypt from around 3100 BC, being used as beads in necklaces as well as inlaid jewellery (gems set into a surface in a decorative pattern). Garnet's many myths frequently portray it as a symbol of light, faith, truth, chivalry, loyalty and honesty.

STERLING SILVER (925%)
Why do silversmiths use 925%? Measured in parts per thousand, pure silver (999%) is too soft so silversmiths mix it with other metals to make it it harder. The purer the metal, the higher the polish, but it is a lot softer (thus less durable). The harder the metal is, the more hard wearing the jewellery is, but it will also tarnish easier as it has less silver content. Therefore, the silver industry set a standard percentage content for fine silver (925); what we know as "sterling silver". At Two Skies our silversmiths use 925 (sterling) silver for ring shafts and moving parts, and a very high 950% on our stones settings, which enables us to get a strong jewellery item with a beautiful and secure stone setting, without any gluing. Each piece of our jewellery is hand stamped with our Two Skies Hallmark alongside the recognised industry 925 Hallmark.

MORE ABOUT THE TWO SKIES STORY
"Collected with Conscience, Crafted with Love.."
No adventure is too crazy, no risk is too great, no journey too extreme, when Adam McIntosh sets about sourcing his rare and unusual gems. Born in Scotland and raised in Papua New Guinea, he is renowned for his environmentally sound and ethically created designs. The chief of the Mi'kmaq tribe named Adam 'Two Skies' on one of his many expeditions to places ranging from the dark jungle of the Amazon to the tropical reefs of Fiji. Each piece of his sustainably sourced jewellery comes with its own fascinating story, and can be traced from origin to creation.
