Lilac with blueish tones, this is a genuine round Ruskin plaque in a silver on sale mount and “C” shaped pin clasp. It probably dates from about 1905 to 1920. It is open backed so the Ruskin impressed mark can be clearly seen. The colour is really difficult to describe and it seems to change with the light - In these pictures it looks a little more blue than it is. The finish is also quite dappled resulting in a wide range of tones.
It measures about 5cm in diameter so is of the larger sort and is excellent condition. The mount and pin our sound but being silver are soft and need to be used with some care.
Ruskin enamels ( they were actually standard company pottery glazes but I guess enamel sounded more artisanal at the time) were copied by many other factories including Moorcroft and Minton Hollis. They were sold as finished articles and also as components that were made up outworkers and hobbyists.
