A lovely set! Planter and trinket box by Rigmor Nielsen for Soholm.
Soholm Pottery is one of the most revered names in Danish pottery. It was founded on the Baltic island of Bornholm in 1835 and produced ceramics until the factory closed in 1996.
Rigmor Nielsen worked at Soholm from 1940 through 1989 and become one of the foremost decorators and designers. In the 1950s she began on sale her 'Sandvig' series, named for the village where she lived, incorporating modernist floral and abstract motifs.
These 2 pieces are part of that series and date probably from the 1960s.
The planter or cache pot measures Height 10.5 cm or 4 1/8" Diameter 10.6 cm or
4 3/16"
The trinket box lid is 10.8 cm x 7.7 cm or 4 1/4" x 3" Height 4.3 cm or 1 3/4"
White clay body with a beautiful deep soft blue background and branched pattern with circles and stars. Quite an enchanting design!
