Antique Victorian Floral Mourning Wreath Shadow Box Black Wood Frame Hair art Reliquary. This is a rare find for me. An very old , unusual piece.
After doing online research, I have come to a conclusion that this is an antique from 18th century Victorian era Mourning shadow memory frame, box, cabinet.
The angled wooden small cabinet, frame is made with black painted wood, decorated with golden leaf design around the partially present opening hinged door.
It seames that the door used to hold a glass, that is now missing with also more than half of the opening door frame.

On the interior of the small cabinet there is a embroidered padded textile art piece. It consists of coat of arms shaped textile art delicate embroidery. In the center of the embroidery is pictured a grave stone, thumb stone and a house, church window with an arch that is covered with flowers, wines.

The center embroidery is very possibly made with hair- hair art. For memory of the loved one. The center décor resembles a letter C or G. Around the center décor there is a floral wreath made with dried flowers and textile roses. On the top of the textile piece is also an embroidery. The piece is attached to the wood frame with a metal pin that is also a hook. Perhaps to hold a memories jewelry piece, necklace, rosary.

This would be a nice piece for a collector or a historian. Or to use as a antique movie, photo prop. Or for Gothic, Victorian antique home décor.

Condition- can be seen in the pictures. The opening wood frame door in front is missing more than half, and perhaps missing the glass.
The main frame is in good condition for its age. Some scratches, paint loss. Stable structure.
The textile embroidery - back side has nice old silk fabric. Front side the silk is mostly disintegrated with time and light .
Under the silk layer there is sturdy cotton layer that is in good antique condition with strong yellowing of the fabric and strong structure.
The middle hair embroidery is intricate and perfect condition.
The floral wreath is in good antique condition with some wear of time visible.
