The salt and pepper are black Cloisonné with a wonderful yellow dragon reaching ⅔ around the perminater of the salt. The dragon face is blue green with large black and white eyes and you can see his teeth. Between the front and end of the dragon there is a flower like design. The bottom on both pieces are a stylized chrysanthemum in white and red.

The edge of the salt dish, both top and bottom and the top of the pepper are all brass. The top un-screws to add pepper. There are three brass feet on the salt and pepper. It really is amazing how detailed the Cloisonné is on these pieces. The set is in very good condition with no marks or dings considering it is 128 years old. There is no makers mark on the dish or shaker.

The appraisal says this salt was made in Japan in 1889. This cellar comes from an extensive collection of salt cellars dating back as far as the 1700's on sale, owned by a family member. She had the collection appraised in the 1980's and the prices on all the cells we will be selling is from that time. We have not marked the prices up. We can only use the written information about the individual pieces as written in the appraisal. We do not warrantee that the items are anything other than what the appraisal tell us.

All information comes from a third party who was a certified appraiser. Each cellar will be shipped in a cardboard packing box, wrapped and packed with bubble wrap and insured. Combine cellars to save on shipping. I ship USPS First Class Service, the least expensive, unless you choose a different shipping service. Convo me with any questions. If you purchase more than one I will adjust the shipping charge and refund any overage, it is not my intention to make a profit on the shipping.

For international buyers covo me for details of shipping to your location.
