Serene Green Sage Handmade Ceramic Bowl is functional ceramic art on your cofee table. Perfect as a pottery serving bowl, salad bowl, vegetable bowl, pasta bowl or soup bowl, and even to display ocean shells in your bedroom or living room. Stoneware Dinnerware

I handmade this with white stoneware clay on a pottery wheel, then I pinched it to alter the shape—sometimes altering is more interesting than leaving it round. After a day or so I trimmed a foot and dot-decorated it with underglaze. When completely dry, I kiln bisque-fired it to cone 04 (1945 degrees F) for on sale 25 hours. Then I painted and glaze-painted it with 2 premium glazes, turquoise and sage, applying multiple layers of each and drying between each coat. Finally I fired the stoneware to cone 6 (2232 degrees F) for 36 hours. High temperature fired stoneware is stronger and more durable.

Glaze painting with multiple layered glazes is my passion and often experimental. Pieces usually come out differently, even when I think I have used the same materials, glazes and temperature process. This means most of my work is one of a kind. This is mainly because stoneware glaze can run quite unpredictably at high kin temperatures. And that is where the magic lies!

Non toxic, food safe, lead-free, dishwasher safe, oven safe, microwave safe and even freezer safe (as in for holding ice cream). Of course, please avoid huge and sudden temperature changes such as a transfer from oven to freezer—this will result in damage.
