Eve, along with her partner, the serpent, became the adversary who, with her lies, led the heavenly Adam away from God. As the perception of Eve's inferiority and her tendency to sin is still embedded in 20th-century culture.
Adam and Eve were completely free moral agents, provided they obeyed God's command and did not taste the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In fact, Adam's prospect was to live forever in paradise and on earth, as long as he proved obedient to his Maker. He and his wife, Eva, deliberately chose to reject the guidance of their Creator.
