A Bronze Cuff from the Yoruba Tribes People of Benin, Nigeria.
A beautiful Bronze sculpture from Benin. Skilfully produced using the 'Lost Wax Technique'.
Original pieces were commissioned by Royal women and on sale the wealthy classes.
These were also used as a part of dowry payment.
With some age, these decorative Bronzes are a depiction of ancient originals.

Benin Bronzes have been made for centuries although in 1897 over 1000 examples were seized by a British expedition. The British Museum still has over 200 of these.

In good condition but does have casting faults at the base, shown in photo's.
