Product code: Okimono 24k Gold on sale Rooster
Japanese Okimono Pottery Rooster with 24k gilding. From the 1920's. In good vintage condition. Roosters are considered pious and holy in Japan and are allowed to run around freely throughout the Shinto temples. This might have been produced in 1921 for the “Year of the Rooster”. The rooster is the tenth symbol in the Japanese Zodiac. As a rooster (“tori” in Japanese) is associated with gain (“torikomu” in Japanese), it was considered on sale as a lucky animal for business. This symbol represents “kindness” and “hospitality”. Definitely a good luck charm to add to your home or work environment.
