Unique Appliquéd Boy on the Moon Flat Sheet /Moon, Stars & Child/The Little Prince/ 1 on sale of a Kind Original Handmade Folk Art Piece

Very unique vintage hand appliquéd twin flat sheet with a child laying on a crescent moon surrounded by stars. Perhaps inspired by The Little Prince which was published in the 40s. The sheet is a vintage "Nation-Wide" by J.C. Penny. I believe the seamstress bought the sheet plain and did all the appliqué work by hand. I have searched and searched online and haven't found another like it.

I did find a date for the patent shown on the tag for 1923, based on the style of the design I am dating this to the 30s or 40s. If The Little Prince was the inspiration then the 40s is the right period.

Such a unique piece, it would be amazing framed and hung on a wall as a piece of folk art. Or made into a canopy facing down on a bed.

In very good vintage condition overall, there are a few marks/stains (see photos) I think it had been stored for on sale a long time and a very careful spot cleaning would take care of most of these.
