Vintage 1960s Caro Nan Basket Box Purse Phoenix AZ Hand Painted on sale Mid Century Boho Folk Art | Bohemian Hand Bag

Started by Jackson, Mississippi friends Carolyn McDaniel and Nancy Steele back in 1965, the New England basket box bags are hand painted and adorned with decals, usually depicting various cities. This one represents Phoenix, AZ.

Super cute with it's wooden handle, hinged lid, and quilted calico lining. Nice Folk Art Feel. The penny on top is dated 1962.

In very good on sale condition. No missing paint or peeling decals. There is light wear on the lid finish and light soiling on the calico lining, both consistent with use. Please see photos for detail.

10" wide including handles, 5 3/4 deep, 6 1/4" tall.
