Antique Victorian jeweled stick pin, circa 1880

Gilt flower with a clear paste gem. This piece is interesting - it looks as though two pieces were married. The jewel that hangs from the flower looks like it may have began its life as an earring. Perhaps the lady lost one earring and wanted to continue to wear her special jewel?
