These wonderful beads were excavated along the Silk Road in Afghanistan.

“The terms “Roman” and “Roman period” glass are used to describe glass production from 100 BC to AD 400 within the boundaries of the Roman Empire, including factories in Syria, Egypt, Italy, Switzerland, the Rhineland, France and England. Everywhere the Romans went, they brought glass beads to trade.”

From "History of Beads” by Lois Sherr Dubin, pages 55-58.
