A pair of trench art brass shell case vases with repoussé floral design which was made in the trenches during WW1 (1914-1918) by a soldier whilst he was enduring battle conditions and to have created such beautiful objects from a spent explosive, armaments of destruction, offers an insight not only to his feelings about the war, but also to his surroundings and the materials available for him to use to express his emotions.

These elegant vases, created under the most horrifically appalling conditions, have marvellously survived through more than a century, now being historically important collectibles.

Weigh 2.2kg and each is 13.5"/35cm high with a 3.5"/9cm base diameter and across the vase top

Please note on sale all our items are vintage and thus will show some signs of age, sometimes a lot, and that we try to show these in our photographs. Our policy is to offer items such as this without undue interference so that they are in the French flea market tradition (Marché des Puces ) of being in an "as found" condition and so we ask you to look closely at the photos as they are an integral part of the description.

Shipment will be by French Colissimo International Airmail which includes professional, environmentally friendly packaging and a tracking number. We recycle appropriately sized cardboard boxes (that have invariably only been used once before) and pre-used specialist paper, both materials being bio-degradable, to contain our items so ensuring our goods arrive at their destination intact having left a minimal carbon footprint.
