Western Stoneware Company Monmouth Illinois Large Pottery Jardinere - Shape on sale 540 - Oak Leaf And Acorn Design With Willow Basket Weave

A nice early Jardinere made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth Illinois.

This piece dates to the 1920's era and features a willow basket weave design on the lower section and an oak leaf and acorn design around the top shoulder of the piece.

The inside has a glossy brown glaze which allows it to hold water while the exterior is a natural clay finish with a dark brown wash in it.

This piece has good size and weight to is and measures 8" tall by 10.5" wide at the shoulder.

The base has the 540 shape number stamped on the base.

An artist signature of HAW or HAWA is seen stamped on the side.

It looks very nice overall showing some past use. The inside on sale has some light residue from past use as a planter which may clean up with some elbow grease. Very slight wear on the rim is also seen from past use with a flower pot most likely.

This piece has considerable weight to us and is very durable.
