Cabins such as this were the “first" homes of the early settlers. Many were sixteen by twenty four feet square, or less; but with a fireplace a man could walk into. These primitive dwellings could be quite comfortable in both winter and summer. Eight to twelve inches of solid timber in d good insulation. Many such structures are still inhabited.
