Michael's paperweights evoke a tapestry of living organisms from an ocean reef, maybe from another time and place. He works to incorporate the colors and rhythms of aquatic life. The technique used is called murrini, long glass rods are made using different glass colors and patterns. These glass rods are then sliced like bread into smaller pieces. The glass pieces are then encased in a layer of clear glass and the elements are magnified, minute details of unique things and places can be discovered. They can be cleaned using a warm damp cloth and mild soap. Each on sale paperweight is unique.
