A lovely necklace with ancient carnelian beads, excavated along the Silk Road in Afghanistan. Carnelian was symbolic of the warm blood of life and was thought to purify the blood of the wearer. The central heart amulet represents immortality and eternal life. An ancient piece of jewelry to cherish forever.

✔️Carnelian beads, ca 500-1000 A.D.
✔️The beads have lovely shades of orange-red and orangy brown. These beads are handmade, no beads are identical.
✔️Strand is ca. 44 cm and professionaly restrung.
✔️Spacer beads, clasp and finishings are gold plated on sale silver (ca 18 grams of silver).
✔️Good condition consistent with age and use. Some of these beads have traveled at least three continents. Corrosion and pitting are a normal part of their patina attesting to their age and extensive use.
