Vintage Hand Painted Chess Set with Board, KH 8,5cm/3,35in., Handmade German on sale Folklore Art Chess Set with Original Box

This is vintage handmade German Souvenir Chess Set from the 1970's - 1980's. The set contains 32 chess pieces, 24 checkers discs, wooden chess board and original cardboard box. The chessmen are individually turned/carved by hand from solid (maple?) wood and crafted in folklore style pattern. Pieces are quite thin and delicate. Each one is painted by hand with very good detail and have unique facial features. Red color dominates on one side of the set, green color dominates on the other side. The set is bottomed with green felt. Pieces are not weighted. The checkers discs are made from hard and heavy plastic in green and red. The set comes with it's original chess board which also acts as a storage case. It's made of solid wood and inlaid with 3 types of natural veneer on the top. Inner section of the board is divided into small spaces with individual position for each piece. There are 2 frame hangers on one side of the board, which means it could be hanged on a wall and used on sale as interior piece.

Condition:
The set is in very good used condition. There are no visible damages to the pieces, except few repaired (glued) pipes on the pawns. Paint is in good shape with some small marks and dots here and there. All felts are present. The chess board is also in very good condition, no visible chips and cracks. It stays flat when placed on a table. Varnish is well preserved with some small age related marks and scratches. The set comes with original cardboard box which is in good condition.
