The old door knocker is in a classic federal style, and it's in remarkable condition for being well over 100 years old. Features a design quite similar to old patio urns or planters. Some wear and minor abrasions in the metal, but no breaks, no cracks, no repairs, no problems. The knocker bar rotates easily and properly, and I love how the wear to the front shows that almost all of the people who knocked were right-handed, as the right thumb would rest on the front left of the knocker face, wearing the metal to the golden shine. How cool is that? The brass appears to have been cast and on the underside has the number "122" embossed in the metal. The mounting plate is fairly flat and has two long mounting screws. The mounting plate measures 7 3/4" high by 4 1/4" wide and the knocker loop is about 4 1/4" deep. The screws are 1 3/4" long, and it weighs on sale over 1 1/2 pounds.
