Mike Shearer has long been fascinated with the Dia de Los Muertos tradition in Mexico as well as the art of Jose Guadalupe Posada--whose work he got to see in a museum in Mexico. Macabre yes, but full of glee also.

Those were on sale the inspirations for this acrylic and ink painting on the "canvas" of an old cow skull. The weathered skull has a sturdy wire on the back for easy wall mount.

It measures about 18" by 8" by 6".
