An eccentric, who was in Paris for the student/worker revolt of '68, once lent me a book entitled A Man. It had a blue or purple cover. It was written by Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci. Fallaci can be seen to the left of this shot. To the right is her lover, the poet and would-be Greek revolutionary; Alexandros Panagoulis. The book told the story of that man, from the vantage point of Fallaci. She regales the reader with tales of their drinking and depicts, amongst other things, Panagoulis being imprisoned and tortured at the hands of the junta after he attempted to assassinate the dictator in the Regime of the Colonels. The aforementioned eccentric was mighty canny to have shared such a book with me. To the day, it remains a tremendous piece of literature to share with any young person.
