HISTORY: The West Bend Aluminum Company of Wisconsin was founded in 1911, the company changed its name to West Bend Company in 1961. The iconic Penguin Hot and Cold Server® is a classic of midcentury modern design. The design was filed by inventor Ralph N. Kircher on March 13, 1941 the patent was filed May 19, 1941 and issued May 16, 1944. The start of World War II meant that the use of metal for consumer goods was restricted until after 1945. With the end of rationing, factories resumed manufacturing consumer goods; the Penguin was part of that. The Penguin was one of West Bend's biggest successes, there is one on display in the new Museum of the American Cocktail in New Orleans.

A bit about vintage...a vintage item is at least 20 years old.
