Dinosaur gem bone pear shape cabochon polished both sides wire wrap. Brown yellow designer gemstone 22 mm x 52 mm x on sale 5 mm deep.
on sale When I cut and fashion dinosaur bone rough into gemstones, I'm always consumed by a sense of wonder at what it is that I'm working with. Its impressive to me that 65 million years ago this piece of stone was a living organism roaming the earth. It's equally wonderous that nature has perfectly preserved this bone, now a stone, right down to in some cases, mimicing the cell structure of the inner marrows of the bone. This happens over millions of years, and replaces the organic bone with hard, colorful agate, suitible for making beautiful gems. The vast extent of the unfoldment of this trait in Nature is stupefyiing to me.
This listing is for a large pear-shaped dinosaur bone cabochon. The dimensions are 22 mm x 52 mm x 5 mm deep. The weight of this cabochon is 57.5 carats. This gem is polished on both sides making it suitable for a wire wrap jewelry design. What's unique about the stone is that there is a tiny speck in one of the cells, that is some kind of reflective material, possibly pirate. I've never seen this before in gembone material. Makes for a unique conversation piece.
