== What are Malas?==
Mala beads are a string of beads traditionally used in prayer and meditation. They are also a beautiful reminder of our intentions.
In Sanskrit Mala means garland, it's composed with 108 beads and one ‘guru' bead; in the tradition 108 is a special number and it's said that there are 108 reasons why... I just tell you some of them: number 1 represents supreme awareness, number 0 represents the cosmos, number 8 represents the aspects of nature: earth, water, air, fire, individuality (ashamkara), mind (manas), and perceptive intuition (buddhi). Or, number 0 represents Shiva, number 8 Shakti and number 1 their union in Yoga. 8 plus 1 equal to 9, that is a mystical number in Hindu Mythology... and so on. Mala can be held in the palm of your hand or worn around your neck. They also help you to keep count while your chanting your mantras and if you're not into meditation, you can wear it just because you like it. You don't have to be religious or have any spiritual practice. You can simply wear them as a reminder of an intention you've set and let the stones healing properties flow.
