This design actually raises the bar to a new and better level. Two piece sturdy construction, with a separate round base with a circular collar ring that the spiral wraps around and snugs securely to, allowing it to stand perfectly vertical without any leaning. Will accommodate several full-size umbrellas and the base serves well to keep water from reaching the floor...you can easily separate the base for cleaning. 1970s ? Measures 18"tall from base and 10" across top. Truly excellent. Packed and shipped carefully to arrive as on sale it is now... perfect.
