Vintage Essex Crystal Reverse Carved Brooch. Hand Painted. Secure Hinge and Clasp.
Essex Crystal is getting harder and harder to come by! This is a crisp example of a duck or warerfowl in flight. Very nicely reverse carved and reverse painted with good detail. The colors are bright and intact, and the rock crystal has no flaws that I can see.
The brooch measures 32mm by 23mm and is about 9mm tall with the convex crystal. I feel the setting is metal with a gold wash (no markings), as it does not test for 10K with my test kit. Possibly 9K?? Secure "C" clasp. Lovely Edwardian/Victorian example of bygone days! It is in on sale excellent antique condition, and would be a fun addition to your Essex Crystal collection and well worth the price!
