Statement bandana scarf hand woven in two shades of brown. Woven on a small triangle loom, in on sale a window-pane pattern using ribbon yarns.
Dimensions of scarf -
Length (without fringe) - 47-inches
Width - 22-inches
Construction of scarf -
Woven on my three foot tri-loom, this one-of-a-kind scarf will never be repeated. The flat acrylic yarns used were the last skeins of a discontinued line. The window-pane pattern is created by not adhering to the continuous weaving method used for most tri-loom projects. Instead, I began by cutting all the yarn to the same length. Then each piece is added by following the right side of the upside down triangle to the top (or bottom) where the yarn takes a sharp right turn and is woven
back through the proceeding warp threads, down to the right edge where it's tied off with its neighbor to form the fringe.
This method takes longer than the continuous weave method, but opens up new possibilities of pattern that aren't possible with traditional continuous weave. The flat nature of the yarn creates a wonderful drape. This scarf measures 47 inches long at the base of the triangle and on sale 22 inches wide from base to triangle point, plus 3 inch fringe on two edges.
