Vintage Japanese silk panel with on sale beautiful patterns

We don't know what these beautiful silk panels were for, but we were glad to see them when given to us by a Japanese friend, who received them from her mother. This is one quarter of what was originally a single long piece of fabric, as the cut edges align. It is one of the two center sections.

It measures 13 1/4" x 54". in very on sale good vintage condition, unused.
