Small English Earthenware Lidded Tureen Circa on sale 1900

Beautiful small (approximately 6 inches on sale across) partially glazed English tureen or crock pot manufactured by Denby. Terracotta or redware in colour and glazed within to have held any liquid contents. A lovely behind-the-scenes kitchen artifact of which few survive. This is the English equivalent of a French vessel for pâté. A timeless and handsome vintage kitchenware gem for storing anything from garlic to salt.
