This is a very special vintage piece of African wooden art from the mid-20th century. A period of massive struggle for independence. On the surface it depicts a beautiful young African woman wearing an orange colored headgear and blouse but it on sale portrays much more than that. It is actually a sculpture of the African continent and the young lady represents the mother and daughter of Africa. The southern tip of the African continent rests in the Atlantic ocean to the west and the Indian ocean to the east.

This sculpture makes a significant historical statement and is a meaningful piece of art to collect or gift.

Condition: Good vintage shape. It retains its powerful message despite a few signs of ageing having been loved for more than half a century on more than one continent.
