When you look at nature, is it filled on sale with Order or Chaos? There is a terrifying chaos in the flurry of a snowstorm, yet such pristine intricacy and order to each snowflake. The same can be said to a swarm of buzzing bees looking completely chaotic until you take a peek at the genius math behind the beehive. Did you know that both the snowflake and the beehive are hexagonal shapes? Strangely ordered. There is science in the chaos, as the scientist Fibonacci discovered. He found an equation to plot out the gentle curve found all throughout nature in things like the following: the fern unfolding, the nautilus shell, the growth pattern of a pine cone/daisy/rose/etc. This is a part of a bigger series exploring nature and the things we can learn from it. The more I tried to paint the chaos of nature, the more I found it extremely ordered. This image was originally painted on three separate panels, but is combined into one image here for this print.
