Ceramic Pumpkin | Handmade on sale Pumpkin | Raku Pumpkin | Saggar Pumpkin

This beautiful ceramic pumpkin was thrown on the potters wheel and then the form altered. The stem on sale was handmade and added to the pumpkin and then underglazed. The entire pumpkin was made from high quality stoneware clay and bisque fired to cone 06 (approx. 1830° F). A saggar firing technique was then used to finish this piece within a raku kiln. The colors were achieved with the use of ferric chloride and organic materials inside a foil container, heated up to about 1400° F and then cooled naturally. After the piece was cleaned, acrylics and waxes were applied to preserve and protect the finish.
