This 7 piece San San Kudo Sake set is wheel thrown from a durable stoneware clay. This set is glazed in our Slate blue, with colored glass in the bottoms of the cups as well as in the pitcher.
This is a traditional san san kudo wedding ceremony set. San-san-kudo literally means “three, three, nine times.” The bride and groom take turns taking three sips each of three different bowls of sake, each one larger than the next. Three is an indivisible number, and it is considered a sacred number in Buddhism. By exchanging the nuptial sake sips—three times three—husband and wife are united.
The pitcher is approx. 6.5"H.

All of our stoneware pottery is fully functional for daily use, never contains lead, is non toxic and food safe, as well as dishwasher and microwave safe.
