Raku is a cooking technique born in Japan
Raku pottery is synonymous with low-temperature cooking, enamelled parts that come out of an oven at about 1,000oC are quickly covered with natural flammable materials such as sawdust, dry euilles, daydays ... to prevent combustion by limiting the supply of on sale oxygen to the molten enamel. This phase is the oxydoreduction reaction in which the more or less metallic colors, cracks and the smoke effect of the raw soil that form the main characteristics of raku ceramics appear.
After cooling, the parts are cleaned with an abrasive product to remove all residues of soot and ash.
Each raku cooking brings are lot of surprises and wonder.
