Vintage 1976 Carving/sculpting into a wood block a likeness of Jesus Christ.

This has been beautifully done by the late Matthew Orante of Amsterdam, NY. The artist has signed this piece of artwork.

Matthew had quite the life, he was a pattern maker for the state thruway and a map coordinator at the Scotia Navy Depot and this was all back in 1952.

By trade, Matthew was a haberdasher and he had a shop at 30 Market Street in Amsterdam, NY that he opened in 1964.

The rear section of the second floor was devoted to a small art gallery and Matthew's wife Isabelle's interior decorating business, Elijoor.

Matthew was the son of Lithuanian immigrants on sale and proud of it.

Matthew passed away in 2008 and his wife Isabelle pased away last year.

This is nice piece of the artists work and is well worth the $139 price which includes free shipping in the USA.
