REDUCED on (5/25/22) from $150.00 to $125.00…..This is on sale a rare, vintage (old but exact age unknown), miniature, inlaid-wood, marquetry, landscape picture of “Glendalough County Wicklow”, Ireland. This pictorial, scenic, glacial area was a renowned, early, medieval, monastic settlement founded in the 6th century. This beauty features “The Valley of the Two Lakes” with the monastery amidst a background of mountains. It is comprised of a variety of tiny, wood pieces in different colors & shapes which have been finely cut & inlaid. Hard enough to do in a large, marquetry picture, let alone a mini picture. The main picture is on a wood panel measuring 3/8” x 3.75” x 6 inches. The full measurement including the easel is 6 x 6 inches. The plaque is attached to an easel back with flat-head screws with a pull out leg for standing in place on a tabletop or shelf. The flat-head screws date the piece perhaps in the 1950s. It is labeled on the front of the panel “Glendalough, Co Wicklow” and McDonnell in lower right. The back of the panel has the handwritten words “Genuine Irish Handcraft by McDonnell”. A special marquetry picture for sure. It is in wonderful condition with no flaws that I can see. Please be sure before purchasing as this item is not returnable.
